A good time to be a beginner!

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

The last year has thrown up many, many challenges around work life, home life and the crossing over of the two. But as we’ve been forced to spend a lot more time at home, one positive aspect of this year has been the opportunity to exercise and look after ourselves a little better.

The worries and embarrassment that perhaps held you back from joining a class or going to the gym before no longer feature thanks to the wealth of online fitness options out there. So there’s never been a better time to be an exercise beginner!

Exercise is so good for our mental health and for boosting our immune system so taking it into your home (especially if you’re nervous about being outside or don’t like the cold) is the perfect solution. Online classes with Gemma Pearce Fitness offers the best of all worlds for the fitness novice – there is no judgement, you can wear whatever you like and you can try out all the different exercise styles to find the one you love the best.

The accountability is there if you want it. We can’t see you joining in but you can let the group know when you’ve done it and, as we’re all in the same boat, there’s a wonderfully supportive atmosphere.

We totally understand how difficult it can be to return to exercise after a break or start up as an adult if you’ve done nothing since school, many Gemma Pearce Fitness members were in the same boat when they started out, but there’s no stopping them now!

Our top tip is to start off gently and choose the low impact options we offer in classes, try a few different types of exercise over a few weeks while you build up your strength and stamina.

Once you’ve found the fitness classes that suit you, the best way to stay motivated is to find a varied routine you truly enjoy so that it never feel like a chore. Then, if you can control the distractions, you are all set to create a habit that’s easy to stick to.

Julia, a Gemma Pearce Fitness member said: “I work from home so I put my ‘gym kit’ on every morning and when the kids have gone to school, the first thing I do is catch up on the friendly chat in the group and choose my workout. Some days I’m up for a Lift handweights workout, some days I go for an Abs Blitz workout and by the end of the week I’m usually ready for a Pilates or Stretch class!”

So why not take the plunge right now? You can commit for just a month. It’s a no-risk strategy, just press play – you have nothing to lose and you might love it! Check out the membership options at www.gemmapearcefitness.co.uk
